CAMBRIDGE – The award-winning Ezekiel’s Wheels Klezmer Band is coming to Ryles Jazz Club on Friday, June 2, from 9 p.m. until closing for an evening of what DownBeat magazine calls “plenty of Jewish soul and dance spirit.”The Boston-based band, which has been delighting audiences since 2009, are the winners of the Boston Jewish Music Festival’s Klezmer Idol competition, the International Jewish Music Festival’s Audience Choice Award and City Winery Prize for Best Klezmer Band, and an Iguana Music Fund Grant. Their music has been featured on the Boston Jewish Music Festival’s compilation album, documentaries in the Netherlands and Brazil, and a feature length film, in addition to their own four albums - Ezekiel’s Wheels EP (2012), Transported (2013), Live in Rockport (2016), and Turning Point (2016).Blending original works grounded in the klezmer tradition with modern interpretations of traditional klezmer tunes, Ezekiel’s Wheels Klezmer Band brings energy and virtuosity to every concert. They have performed at the Kennedy Center for the Arts in Washington, D.C., Rockport Music’s Shalin Liu Performance Center, the St. Louis International Festival, the Regattabar Jazz Club, Amsterdam’s Compagnietheater, and many more concert and community venues.
